Acquiring the skill of operating a manual vehicle is one of the most valuable skills you can accomplish and get the benefit of having absolute control, versatility, and the confidence to operate any driving situation. At EA Driving School, the focus of our Manual Driving Lessons is to equip you with the knowledge, coordination, and road judgment needed to pass your test and drive safely for life.
The lessons are thoroughly planned and constructed to meet your needs. Regardless of whether you are a complete novice or transitioning from automatic, we’ll take you through each stage – from the subtlety of clutch control, to seamless gear shifting, and driving through the everyday challenges of real traffic.
All lessons are conducted by fully qualified, DVSA-approved Driving Instructors, providing driving instruction that combines professionalism with a calm, considered approach. You will learn how to obtain your test pass, but much more importantly, you will develop the life skill of driving independently and responsibly with full awareness of your surroundings, with confidence in the decisions you make.
What You’ll Learn
Our manual driving course includes everything a driver needs to prepare for any road or condition.
You will learn the fundamentals of driving – starting, stopping, steering, and balance on the clutch – before developing your skills with more complex areas of driving, such as:
- Junctions and roundabouts
- Hill starts & controlled stopping
- Parking and reversing
- Lane discipline & signalling
- Speed and awareness of hazards
As part of your lessons, we will also develop your judgement, observation & anticipation – essential for real-world driving and safety for life.
Build Confidence from Practice
We believe in consistent progression and positive reinforcement. We know that every learner learns differently, so each session is adapted to your level of comfort. You get to learn in modern dual-controlled cars and book a lesson when it suits you, to ensure you are comfortable from day one.
By the time you finish your lessons and head off for your test, you will possess an in-depth understanding of road safety, defensive driving, and how to make confident split-second decisions, which are the hallmark of EA Driving School students.

Mastering Driving
You’ll learn and be proficient in driving a manual car with emphasis on:
– The proper use of the gear and clutch
